This past Saturday, JACK’S PLACE for Autism Foundation hosted ALL Catchers are Good Looking and Smart at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Guests who attended the event were treated to an afternoon that was all about baseball. After receiving lunch catered by Andiamo Trattoria, event host Rod Gillespie spoke for a few minutes about the stars of the program, as well as Detroit Tigers Fantasy Camp Director and fireside chat moderator Jerry Lewis. Lewis moderated the fireside chat with Tigers Catcher James McCann and 1968 World Series Champion Catcher, current Tigers Color Commentator and JACK’S PLACE For Autism Co-Founder Jim Price, talking all things baseball.
From Jim’s days as a Pittsburgh Pirate and Detroit Tiger, to James’ recent days as a Detroit Tiger, the duo covered an array of topics, such as what they’ve learned in their careers as baseball players, who and what served as an inspiration for them them to play baseball, what they would tell aspiring professional sports athletes and more. After the fireside chat, prizes were awarded from the raffle drawing and guests were able to meet the catching duo, take photos with them and have them sign autographs.
We would like to thank everyone who made it out this past weekend to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Detroit for the event. In addition, we would like to thank Jerry Lewis, James McCann and Jim Price for appearing, as well as Andiamo Trattoria for catering our event and Achatz Pie Co. for their continued support. We’ve added some of the photos onto our gallery page and more will be added in the near future.
