JACK’S PLACE for Autism Foundation co-founders Lisa and Jim Price will be inducted into the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame on October 23, 2018. Taking place at the Metro Detroit Jewish Community Center, the Price family will be called to accept the Shirley and Alvin Foon Humanitarian Award for their work in the special needs community. The Price family will be recognized as members of the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame class of 2018.

After learning the diagnosis of their son, Jack, Lisa and Jim established JACK’S PLACE for Autism Foundation to help parents affected by autism and struggling to find resources. For 15 years, the Foundation has helped over 10,000 individuals through educational, referral and support services, as well as being active participants in their own community.

The Shirley and Alvin Foon Humanitarian Award is presented to an individual or individuals who made a substantial impact through their contributions to athletics and the community. The award was made to honor the life of one of the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation’s founders, Alvin Foon.

JACK’S PLACE for Autism Foundation has been actively involved with the Michigan community, putting together family- and autism-friendly events, as well as participating in community events such as Detroit Public Television Kid’s Club Live. The Foundation has worked closely with the professional sports teams in the city – most notably, the Detroit Tigers – to provide the community a chance to meet and interact with players and coaches. In addition, the Foundation worked with Target to bring the first ever Quiet Shopping Hours event to Michigan, an event for families affected by autism.

The Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame was established by the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation. The Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation was founded in 1984 to both honor Jewish individuals who have distinguished themselves as athletes within the state of Michigan and to foster Jewish identity through athletics. The Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation is a 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization committed to raising funds for charitable contributions to benefit health, education and the less privileged.
